This does sound like a few different albums cut together, which in a way it is, but I don’t feel these songs blend together well to make a satisfying whole. A few of the pieces do have a lovely lazy sound and Christine McVie does some wonderful singing, particularly on the opening number, but eventually that awful dreary drumming does yer bleedin head in.

The various slightly wacky Lindsey Buckingham ones are almost entertaining but just about end up on the wrong side of the line between that and being annoying, and these are the songs that are breaking up a long line of same tempo MOR ordinariness, all backed by that numbingly unimaginative plod plod beat.

There are sparks of loveliness but overall I would have to question whether this shows a good return on a Norris-McWhirter-alerting million bucks recording budget.

An education in blandness

There's so much music to listen to in life, and so little time to do it justice. I just don't understand why people would want to play something so middle of the road and bland. Whether you want pop, ballads, soft rock or country, there's better and lots of it.
