It does have a certain charm but, even at 35 minutes, I felt that it was a long journey through to the end. He has very stylised vocals which are difficult to take in long doses. There is also a thin, very lightly instrumented sound which is quite unusual and does take some adjustment.

I did find it reminiscent of Syd Barrett in some ways but without the top-drawer, eccentric, charming whimsy and I also couldn't really make out Marc's vocals so well. What I could make out was nice and OTT – in a flowery, gothic, poetic way. It was a shame I couldn't understand more and it was not like his voice needed to compete with a lot of other stuff.

Certainly an unusual choice and not something you could get away with nowadays. It did have its moments, but I'm not convinced I was ever laughing with him.

I said HEY HEY!

An incredibly hippy, psychedelic, and generally stoned sound presides throughout this album, but somewhere along the way the songs got lost. All very arty, but lacking any memorable substance.

THE BOPING ELF

A surprise after I was expecting it to sound more like the Metal Guru era he was was famed for. Too hippy dippy for my tastes, and lack of full instrumentation makes it sound a bit like it was tossed off in an evening of hash and patchouli oil in bolan's front room.
