There's a very marked sound to this – big 80s synths, orchestral samples, synth drums, wacky treated samples, slappy bass, bird noises and the like. It's all pioneering stuff for the time and expensive production from a groundbreaking studio / label. But I can't get beyond the sort of “project” feel about it, which I know I could if I liked it more.

The first track, Dream Within a Dream, was the one that I found easiest to enjoy and this is probably quite different from the rest of the album. The Jewel / Duel idea was an interesting one that I don't remember hearing done before, two very different versions of the same song running together. The first version I enjoyed a lot more than the latter.

For the album as a whole, the vocal style feels overly dramatic, but slightly thin and warbly, it’s reminiscent of other electro pop acts of the time but this is not a vocal-backing combination that I enjoy. There’s a slightly awkward, inelegant feel to the melody lines and some key changes, which leaves a slightly clawing lingering after taste with me, it seems to lack a natural organic musical flow – it's more of a stitched together / designed feel of composition. There's also a slightly irritating, punchy, brashness to it all, that my admiration of the work fails to overcome.

Loved a few songs. Has several great pompous pop moments. And a real sound of those times, i.e the 80's. And everyone knows what I think about german girls with big noses.

Initially I found it difficult to get over the 80s synth and vocal sounds, which really have dated, all brass stabs and too-loud slap bass. But eventually some decent songs come through and the album is a decent listen. Also reminds me a lot of Hounds Of Love, I suppose they used the same equipment and techniques.
