It's all about alpha waves, man

It's all about alpha waves, man, it releases positive energies in yer brain, innit?

It's difficult to find a psy-trance album that is consistently good throughout, but this one comes close. When you're in the mood, this music is as uplifting and invigourating as anything else. Filteria uses his seemingly endless array of synths to build layer upon layer of grinding, pumping, twisted psychedelia with crystal clear production.

On the downside, I would have liked a few more peaks and mad moments on the latter half of the album, and the tracks all start and end a bit weakly.

For us layman it can get a bit tricky to tell one psychedelic trance record from another. I wouldn't mind a bit more practice because when one is in the right frame of mind this can be exhilarating stuff. It is an immersive sound, one where you give yourself up to the insistent and relentless drive.

This is an album that seems to drop back to more textural passages, in places, before building again to the more usual thrusting pace. Normally I'd commend albums that attempt some sort of shape and variety but I'm not sure if this kind of music is not better just going for it and pummeling you into submission with its mad sound.

Anyway, there's a good old slightly retro, squelchy, acid feel to the keyboards that certainly tickled my fancy and overall this album seemed like a good example of the genre, although, as I say, I'm no expert.

Liked it but really wanted it a bit more hardcore and mental.
