Hate to say it, but one of the few bands around at the mo who will be remembered. A bit too polished for my liking.

I've always thought Radiohead had a level of success and fame out of all proportion with what they have actually achieved, but hell what do I know? Anyway having listened to the album, I was actually pretty impressed with some of this. There's a good variety of approaches in these songs, a nice balance of sounds and I enjoyed the drumming, which was much more inventive and lively than I was expecting, and which prevented the sound from becoming too dreary and maudlin. To be honest there is still quite a strong, streak of that sort of thing underpinning it – a sort of depressing whine that can largely be traced to a vocal style that I know I'm never going to get on with. Some of the weaker songs I did find annoying, wallowing in minor chords patterns that don't seem to go anywhere. But the more interesting pieces were well worth the listen and this was my favourite for the month by a country mile.

High brow music for high brow listeners... clearly I'm not the intended audience.

It is a struggle at first, but the quality does shine through after enough listens. There's a lot of clever stuff going on, and despite initial reservations there are actually some quite gutsy tracks here. However the vocals are the weak point in my view, too whiny and whingey, often utterly depressing. Deserves to be listened to again.
