Well no it wouldn’t be my album of the year either. It’s commercial stuff, slick and somewhat derivative (what isn't nowadays, eh?) but there's some well put together bits, some good tunes and sounds, and some interesting twists and turns. There’s a few annoying ones and a few real nice ones, see above, but overall I found it listenable as an album and quite varied in terms of pace, arrangements, dynamics and copy-catting.

Some pretty strong, if not terribly original or brave, tracks are on here. It’s not an album that gives us an insight into the souls of the musician’s creating it, say compared with the PJ Harvey one this month, but it’s really just polished mainstream stuff and should be judged as such. On those grounds I was pretty impressed and found it enjoyable, got a problem with that?

I read the popular media reviews after making my own conclusions and was shocked, as this seems to have been widely well received. I find it incredibly bland, and for the most part very irritating.

Musically it's fine, but the lead vocals grate on me from the start, and the album lacks good songs. The best moment comes in the first 30 seconds of track 1, but it's all downhill from there.
