Failed to develop on what it seemed to promise

There are a variety of interesting arrangements and sounds through the album but there's a tendency for these ideas just to be repeated ad naseum in each song. They all fail to develop particularly, other than the excessively used technique of building up in crescendos before dropping back again. There's a lack of counterpoint between the apparently large collection of musicians - they all seem to be playing largely similar parts. The drumming also tends to the tedious, using just pronounced straight ahead on the beat rock patterns pretty much for the duration. The singing, too, failed to bring character to the songs and lacked range and emotion. If arrangements had been explored further this could have been an interesting album, as there are some worthwhile ideas in here.

Arcade who?

Piss poor effort - Fergal Sharkey meets Pontins cabaret club. Why do people enjoy such blandness, there's so much out there to enjoy. If you think this is great you can't be listening properly, get your ears syringed. Background music at best. Someone said this has sold millions of copies, but I don't believe them.
