There's a sort of basic sound employed in the creation of these pieces, a certain sort of simple crudeness that superficially may make them appear to be a bunch of ten-a-penny, churned out numbers. But they all sparkle with a wonderful direct tunefuleness and joy that is pretty much unmatched anywhere. What can I say, it's a great collection of songs. I came across this rather obscure compilation (from the ‘This is Crucial Reggae’ series) of Toots & the Maytals tracks and I thought it did a great job of collecting together a lot of my favourites with their more famous pieces, and without it being overlong or throwing up any of the clangers that they, or any band, inevitably come up with. This is pretty much a faultless run of exhilerating musical sunshine.

A feel good, nostalgic, sunshine reggae album, which along with The Legend adequately completes my reggae collection. Good vibes throughout, head nodding, feet tapping, albeit occasionally a little irritating as reggae tends to be.

It's reggae. I can't think of much more to say about it. I'm sure it sounds good on a hot day with a massive bifter.
