Possibly a Canadian

Preferred her first album, but a talented musician who does everything herself. Her collaboration with David Byrne is supposed to be good but I've not heard it. There are some annoying aspect to this album but credit for achieving her own sound.

Are you Goldfrapp in disguise?

Much as try to stop myself, I can't help mentioning that this sounds very much like Goldfrapp. It does, doesn't it?

There's lots of magpie-esque touches of all sorts of styles but I don't feel it adds up to much and ultimately feels somewhat empty. The problem is, I think, the drumming and rhythms, which can be very simple and mechanical, and there's also a bit of a software-based, home-studio vibe which lacks that real-person energy and emotion. It's all pleasant enough and skillfully crafted, I guess, but lacking any standout track and certainly lacking some life.
