Really enjoy his slightly off key and discordant vocal style - coupled with some complex guitar arrangements, this works for me. Sounds rather like Ultra Vivid Scene don't you think?

Tracks 3 and 10 are wonderful.

I really like Jesus Fever, but the rest of it I cannot recall. Has a nice laconic style, but not sure the depth of the songwriting on this album.

I don't want to sit around all day frowning

It has a sort of lazy, sour, sub-Velvets, sub-Dylan, sub-Neil-Young vibe and which is lacking any spark of originality or invention. The chord progressions often seem just ugly and random. It lacks dynamics and lacks clarity in the production, even though these are very simple arrangements. The singing is affected in its dreary monotony, drowning any brief moments of musicality. The lyrics that he has managed to annunciate clearly seem pointless or stupid, or both. I suppose some people get drawn by this sort of thing but to me it just sounds like a load of old corny bollocks. Hope this helps.
