Timescales

2. When the nominations need to be chosen by.

Albums should be selected by the guest (when invited) and those of the current regular panel members whose turn it is (typically two at a time) in time for the loppylugs meeting directly prior to the one where the album will be discussed. For example the selections to be discussed at loppylugs 12 must have been decided at the latest by the loppylugs 11 meeting, and must be announced at that prior meeting.
Ideally physical copies will be made available for all panel members (including any guests) for that prior meeting, or else at the earliest convenient opportunity afterwards. Typically this will give the whole panel (including any guests) a month or so to listen to and form their balanced and informed opinions on those albums. Reviewers are expected to aim for a minimum of half a dozen plays of each album before giving their views.
Those insightful and intelligent views can be re-iterated and / or expanded upon for online reviews on the site (loppylugs.org) from the day after the meeting onwards. We encourage all reviewers to at least score the albums out of 100 and write a brief summary of their thoughts.

Selections

1. You may choose any album you like…

…except any that have already previously been nominated in loppylugs. A different album from an artist previously nominated is allowed.
…as long as it has been an actual release in the physical world, in other words it would theoretically be possible for somebody else to go and purchase it from somewhere. This means all studio, live, compilation, extended version, bootleg, single, double and treble album releases are fine. Your own personally selected compilation or playlist or any iTunes style selection are not. Subsets or selections from a proper album(s) are not allowed. A single disc from a double or triple collection would not be allowed unless it is also available to purchase as a single separate item.
…as long as it is considered of album length. If it is marked as an EP, extended play or maxi single then it would not be allowed.

If the nomination still requires further clarification on its status then it will be put before the current regular panel members for discussion and a vote.

Dates and venues

3. When and where the discussions take place.

The date and venue for each subsequent meeting is discussed on an ad hoc basis and agreed by email, face to face discussions and/or Doodle scheduling.
It is the responsibility of each regular member to take part in those discussions (3a) and to be aware of the agreed arrangement and to inform any guest that they have invited of that information (yeah, Richard). The website will usually have the most current status of the progress of that arrangement, or else you can just ask someone (yeah, Richard).
Once an agreed date and venue is settled upon we would not expect that to be re-arranged. Any regular member or guest who at short notice finds they are not able to attend should expect that that meeting will still take place, without them. All reviewers invited to that meeting will still be able to enter their views online after the meeting (2c) regardless of whether or not they were actually able to attend.

These rules can be amended at any time by majority vote of the current regular panel members.
